I'm purchasing a 1996 Safari Sahara and was wondering if anyone on here had installed the Silverleaf diagnostic system. What pin and are you happy with it?

Thank you

Todd, Likely not but Silverleaf does offer a computer disc with the associated programming for in the neighborhood of 300/395 reasonable that you can run on a lap top. I did this for many miles on the 2001 Zanzibar I owned. It was great, sort of like "Don't leave home without it". It showed that the analog gauges were always lying.

I am not sure what you mean by "What pin".... Unless you mean 6 pin or 12 pin.

We installed a VMSPC in our 1996 Sahara. You run the software on a computer and ours used an interface thru a USB connector. We originally purchased a 6 pin connector but it would not work. So, we switched to a 12 pin (I think) to attach to the transmission port below the steering wheel.

Happy, yes. The computer sat on the "hump" of the insturment cluster and displayed all the information I need. Speed, Tach, Temps, Turbo, Fuel, etc. It was all there and easily visible at a glance.

We sold the motorhome, but wish I could adapt the system to my car.

In any event it runs from the info or OBD1 port most coaches through an interface connection from Silverleaf.

I was told by Silverleaf that some of those chassis had the wrong 6 pin plug and to get the 12. I'm picking one up in Texas and making a thousand mile drive. I think I'd feel more comfortable if I was sure what it was doing. I've been told that it's a very simple installation.

Point of information for you. The owner of Silverleaf Electronics is the son of Mat Perlot, founder of Safari Motor Coach Corporation (SMC). So, he is familiar with the coaches.

The problem with the plugs ios why I changed to the other plug.

Have you downloaded the software yet from Silverleaf. I used Version 3.0 Build 1. I believe that the current version is 4.0.8b. But, the Version 3.0 is still available.

If you wish, I can attach a screen capture, or email you. I used this on my 250HP and have a screen file as well.
