We recently had an outstanding time travelling the Blue Ridge Pkwy. and Skyline Drive through North Carolina and Virginia in our Safari Cheetah, taking 14 days to do so. There are several fine National Park Service campgrounds along the way. (NPS meaning no utilities, but nice, convenient, and cheap--especially with the Senior Pass.) The beauty of the parkways, and the attractions along the way, will make a great trip for most people, but there are many things to see and do just a few miles off the parkways. (Don't miss Luray Caverns!) But beware! There are forty-something tunnels or overpasses along the route--mostly arch-shaped. We had to straddle the center line to clear most of them with our 13ft.-high rig. Some of the tunnels are curved so that oncoming traffic cannot be seen until you are part-way through. (Wouldn't have done it if we had known what we were in for.) We highly recommend this trip, but only rigs 11'6" or less can travel it safely.

Totally agree about a scenic area, but tight areas. When we had our 95 Beaver we headed off through the Blue Ridge Parkway. Very tight and when we came around a corner, there was a tourist in the middle of the road taking pictures which forced us into a rock overhang which scratched the aluminum on our awning. Would we go again? Yes, but not with our motor coach.
